James Richards is a British artist working in Video, Sound and installation.
through archival research, collaboration and free improvisation he works combine a wide verity if materials drawn from the wold around us.
images and sounds are merged into highly affective video works, and His recent large scale exhibtion projects separate these elements out again, dispersing the compositional process across multiple rooms - allowing space for multi-channel audio installations that combine sound in a way that is physica, sculpturall and spatial, and video works convene materials according to the silent rhythms and movements of the footage they contain.

in this special presentation Richards will screen a selection of his film and influences focusing on a discussion of the role of quotation and re-appropriation in his work.

james Richards (b. 1983) is a British artist presently residing in Berlin and London. Born in Cardiff, Richard's studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London.

Richards was a recipient of the 2014 Ars Viva Prize for young artists and received the 2012 Jarman award for film and video. In 2013-14 he was in residency with the DAAD Berlin and in 2014, Richards was nominated for the Tate’s Turner Prize.
