How can analog painting and drawing be transferred to the digital world? This question will be analyzed by the participants of the summer school “Painting, Drawing and the Digital in Public Space”, which will take place from September 21st to September 25th, 2020.
Through practical work and reflective discussions, students from the Bremen University of the Arts and the South African Durban University of Technology will examine points of reference and challenges in the tension field between analog painting and drawing as well as the transfer to the digital world.
As a conclusion and as one of the highlights of the summer school, the resulting works will be exhibited simultaneously in Bremen and Durban from November 4th to November 6th. The town twinning between Bremen and Durban will be actively lived out by the summer school and the participation of both universities, their students and the participating artists.

The continuation of the summer school, which will be held digitally this year due to Corona, has already been planned: In 2021 there will be a physical summer school in Bremen and in Durban.
