Daniel von Bothmer, born in Bremen in 1983, studied at the Kunsthochschule in Kassel from 2009-2018. From August 2021 to April 2022, he curated the programme of the exhibition space "Masters Of Pure Art (M.O.P.A.)" located in Bremen-Gröpelingen.

In his artistic practice and (material) research, Daniel von Bothmer combines different artistic media such as painting and sculpture, which come together in exhibition spaces to create expansive spatial installations. This results in complex "space picture" compositions, which often open up an aural-visual spatial experience and a world of images rich in detail.
The individual components are based, among other things, on simple paper drawings, digital sketches and 3D-generated models that are transformed into three-dimensional objects during exhibition preparation using a variety of materials and processes, from simple smaller ceramics to large inflatable PVC objects and textile sculptures. These narrative-abstract "spatial scenarios" are expanded by digital and/or analogue paintings, sound and a variety of materials borrowed from everyday life.
In addition to the practice in exhibition spaces outlined above, Daniel von Bothmer has been active in recent years as a filmmaker of animated short films and as a comic artist/writer. The films, which are usually based on the comics, are shown nationally and internationally at film festivals and in exhibition spaces, for example at the International Hof Film Festival, the Short Film Festival in Hamburg or the Center of Fine Arts and Design in Hangzhou/China. The comics are self-published at irregular intervals in Germany's last underground comic "Die Neue Live".
