Tonto Workshop

Workshop with Edda Strobel, Michael Jordan and Helmut Kaplan / 16. and 17.10.2021

The Graz-based collective is mainly run by Edda Strobel and Helmut Kaplan, as well as Michael Jordan, who lives in Germany.
Tonto-Comics is a platform for "Image Text Literature" and sees itself as part of a network of groups represented across Europe, each of which has chosen the medium of "comics" as a surface for artistic exploration.

The workshop will take place in the art education rooms of the Weserburg. The exhibition "Tonto in Bremen" (October 15 to November 20 in Room 404, Nicolaistraße 34/46; Bremen) can be seen at the same time.

Collecting Zines - Is it Necessary?

The Berlin Archive of Youth Cultures has been collecting (fan) zines from various sub- and pop-cultural scenes around the world since 1997 and has collected over 20,000 issues to date. Christian Schmidt tells anecdotally about the difficulties and pitfalls associated with collecting and archiving these undisciplined media, and asks the question of what it's all about.
