From September January 21st to April, graduates of the Fine Arts will be exhibiting their final works at various locations in Bremen as part of the 2020 diploma exhibitions. The works will be exhibited at different places and on different dates: at Speicher XI, in the gallery of the Dechanatstraße, the Galerie Mitte and Tor40 at the Güterbahnhof. Since the diploma exhibitions can unfortunately not be open to the public due to the current hygiene regulations, we will successively offer insights into the works - ranging from painting and drawing, installation and sculpture to film and performance.

Now, since the restrictions cut down mobility we hear new sounds of nature, but also urban sounds that we could not hear before. This finding I used for my work, I went out to record: sounds of animal, of nature, and urban sounds.

Konstanze Spät - Scenes of Oscillation

05. bis 08.02.2021, Galerie K', Alexanderstraße 9b

Scenes of Oscillation is an interrogation on processes of migration and integration - moments of movement and settling - between the so-called postsoviet and german space. Looking into the correlation between time, memory and space within her own body and other inanimate entities around, her inquiry has emerged from unsettling fractionating experiences with both public and personal his_story telling and identity making both. In streamed live sound performances, drawings, writings and temporary, versatile installations which are informed by intensiv conversations with witnesses and different sources of research, Konstanze tries to trace back moments of trauma as well as internalised colonial dimensions inside the migrant his_story she is born into.

Scenes of Oscillation (Prologue_ Displaced) is focused on the migration of Germans into annexed territories of the russian empire under Empress Cathrine II. and it’s after-pains echoing into the present. Aspekts of speech_lessness, in_visibilities and displacement within spaces, bodies, and sound are taken up. In how far this will be manifested within the scope of the Diploma depends on the further course of the current crises and necessary safety measures.

Konstanze Spät is an artist, photographer, and filmmaker. She develops spaces, situations, and scenarios in which to deal with themes from the contexts of body and power politics. This usually occurs in the form of complex, sensual, three-dimensional installations, which lure viewers out of their distanced roles and turn them into an active part of an ephemeral biotope.
