Open Call - Circa 106 Physical Residencies

Open Call - Circa 106 Physical Residencies

February - March 2021

Circa 106 was originally conceived as a student-run project space, which would be open to host a series of exhibitions and lectures, with the aim of providing a safe and welcoming space to initiate dialogues among artists and the community. During the months of October and November of 2020, Circa 106 proposed an experimental residency program, which would initiate a collaboration between two artists who would work in the space, not simultaneously, rather have a dialogue through strate-gies such as, leaving notes, sketches, images, books, art work in the space and asking the other fellow to pick up on and reflect accordingly.

This winter has seen a revival of even more strict lock-down measures across the country, which con-tinues to impact the access for physical working space. Circa 106 has to process the repercussions and carefully respond to and work with the ever changing conditions. After taking a short pause, we would like to resume the format of the previous residencies, and we strongly encourage artists, writ-ers, cultural practitioners to consider applying and engaging in this one-month asynchronous collabo-ration and make use of the physical space, financial allowance, online studio visit and Circa’s online platform which could be used as a tool for communicating and sharing your practice.

To apply please send your CV, Portfolio, short residency proposal or a short text which shows your current research to by the 7th of February 2021. An external jury will review the applications and a response will be sent the10th of February to the selected applicants.
