Ralf Schreiber - simple montages & fragile electrokinetic structures

Konzert mit anschließendem Talk. 

Concert with self made instruments and unstable physical setups
(supplemented with some demonstrations & explanations)

On the table are various, mostly small objects and all kinds of odds and ends: self-made oscillators, tiny motors, contact microphones, springs, rubbers and many cables.

I play with all these things and arrange fleeting, unstable electronic and mechanical setups that are highly amplified with contact microphones and pickups. In the process, the smallest movements, feedbacks and interactions constantly create new rhythmic patterns and whimsical sounds that sometimes sound as if they were of organic origin.

This way of acting eludes a controlled play. It is more an exploratory process and a permanent improvisation.

After the concert, I will give an insight into my sound and rhythm research and show some basic conditions on how to create resonating musical structures in a playful way.
