The future digital media technologies we are interested in are: Zukünftige digitale Medientechnologien, an denen wir interessiert sind, sind: • Artificial Intelligente • Algorithm-Driven Social Media • Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality • Virtual Wars • Virtual companions, robots, androids, cyborgs • Internet of Things / smart home • Self-driving cars / mobility of the future • Blockchain / smart contracts / cryptocurrencies • Experience design / future of the web • Energy, ecology, environment, sustainability • 3D printers, additive manufacturing • Economics, automation, post-capitalism • Digital-neurological interface • Advanced biotechnologies Some of the topics and media theories to be considered are: Einige der zu betrachtenden Themen und Medientheorien sind: • Aliens • Animals • Biological Art • Cyborg theory • Cybernetics • Embodiment • Emotions • Ethics • Fake news • Fourth Industrial Revolution • Hyperreality • Moral algorithms • Object-oriented ontology • P2P economies • Post-capitalism • Post-Truth • Quantum consciousness • Robotics • Simulation • Surveillance • Technological anarchism • The Anthropocene • Transhumanism • Transsexuality • Wearable Computing --- Seminar: Designing Visual Media for a Marine Biology Conference The seminar focuses on the design of visual events and media formats in the context of scientific conferences. Central to the course are concepts for exhibition contributions, projections, installations, and other media-based presentation formats that communicate research in marine biology in an accessible and engaging way. In cooperation with a seminar at the University of Oldenburg, students from both institutions will collaboratively develop concepts for an accompanying exhibition for an international marine biology conference. The aim is to develop design ideas as well as scenarios for their spatial and media-based implementation. During the semester, three sessions will take place (dates will be arranged with the participants), including an excursion to MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences in Bremen (22 May 2026) and a joint working session with students from the University of Oldenburg. During the lecture-free period, several two-day workshops are planned in which prototypes and exhibition elements will be further developed. In the longer term, collaboration with students from the Barcelona Academy of Art is envisioned, as well as a possible realization within the framework of a conference in Barcelona. Regardless of this, the developed concepts will also be pursued as an independent exhibition project. Time: Thursday, 10:00 Format: Seminar with project work, excursion, and workshops.
