- Dispersal methods (Media Design) A flower blooms, a leaf falls in a spiral, a bird builds a nest, a bee sleeps in a flower, after a day full of pollinating. I am at my computer, typing text, and the result of my work is invisible. I send an application into nowhere, consume internet short-lived content, and fry my brain. Then I go back to sleep, and it starts again. What a doomery! Dispersal is a universal method used by all humans and non-humans to maintain the ecosystem. This quality of all things, dead and alive, can unfold in many different patterns. Design as a discipline has adapted some of nature's mechanisms (for example, in the field of ergonomics). But I propose to go beyond the form and function and explore the philosophy behind the urge to create and disperse, and drift away from the human-centric perception of design. Apart from that, let's find out what is out there beyond the Western schools of design, who benefits from designers spending hours doubting themselves and preparing ten slightly different versions of the same thing, and how to work together and overcome imposter syndrome. You don't need to be a designer to enrol in this course, our main focus will be researching, debating, listening and reflecting. The only fixed aspect of the class will be the theoretical input I provide at the beginning, but please be prepared to participate in practical exercises that will help you develop both your hard and soft skills. At the same time, depending on the student’s wishes, we will organise workshops to learn specific tools. Regular attendance is important so we have time to bond and work together. By the end of the course, we will collect our thoughts and practices into a publication. To enrol in the class, please submit a paragraph describing aspects of your current education that bother, scare or encourage you. But also dream a bit… What could be different?
