Call for Applications
On this page, you will find current calls for applications at the University of the Arts Bremen, including scholarships, competitions, and internal funding programs.
- Deutschlandstipendium
The Deutschlandstipendium supports particularly high-achieving and committed students with 300 euros per month. The scholarship is usually announced in August and the application deadline is September 30th.
- D-bü Competition 2026 – HfK Deadline: November 30, 2025
D-bü is a competition for special concert formats. It is open to all kinds of creative concepts, such as cross-genre or staged concerts, installations, music education, 21st-century music, IT interfaces/new media, performances, and much more. D-bü offers participants an excellent forum for unusual event ideas.
We would like to invite you to take part in this extraordinary competition. We would be delighted if you could participate! (The costs for travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered by the D-bü Competition.)
D-bü will be hosted by the University of Music Würzburg in 2026. The final week will take place from April 27 to May 2, 2026.
You can find a good overview of the D-bü Competitions from previous years here: https://d-bue.de/historie/.
The application process consists of two stages. First, submit a concept for a musical event format to the HfK by November 30, 2025, to the contact address provided for selection at the HfK.
Individuals or ensembles of up to eight people aged between 17 and 30 who are studying at one of Germany's music academies are eligible to apply. Alumni of German music academies who graduated no more than two years ago may also participate in the ensembles. In keeping with D-bü's interdisciplinary orientation, students from other German universities (e.g., in the fields of Design, Stage, Lighting, and Video) may also participate. Overall, the proportion of alumni, students from other universities, and participants above the age limit in the ensembles should not exceed one-third.
The concept to be submitted first at the HfK should have a performance duration of 45-60 minutes and must be described in an exposé (written concept) of no more than two pages. In addition, media such as video and audio files (max. 4 minutes) may be submitted.
A selection committee from the HfK (consisting of the rector, vice president for teaching and studies, and one member of the dean's office from each of the two departments) will then select a maximum of three individuals/ensembles who will be eligible to apply directly to the D-bü Competition in the second stage by January 25, 2026 (see attached PDF).
Students at the HfK can also apply to be on the jury for the D-bü Competition in Würzburg. Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025, directly to the contact address provided by the HfK, along with a short letter of motivation and CV (maximum two pages in total).
