The concert is built around the Symphony No. 7 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Malte Schiller has composed “insertions” to be performed between the movements for symphonic orchestra and jazz septet that reference the movements of the symphony. Could this be an enrichment of the Beethoven symphony from another world? Is it too daring? The creative team has a straightforward answer: “No! – Beethoven will in no way suffer damages or ridicule. We facilitate a new listening experience that should be taken seriously and underscores the commonalities between the old and the new through the overall concept of the compositions: strong rhythms, a will to shape and form, as well as an urge to explore.” How does this enhance studies at the HfK? “Our students at the Art Department are getting into direct contact with jazz and become a part of it. They experience the different atmosphere of a stage and a freedom on the stage they can take along with them into their daily work with classical music. There are many benefits such as reducing stage fright and developing creative ideas.” Tickets are available at Nordwest-Ticket (https://www.glocke.de/de/Veranstaltungssuche/01/11/2022/8336/Beethoven-meets-Jazz) or by phone: 0421 363636 Foto Oliver Groenewald ©Steve AlboucqGrafikdesign © Julai Meuter
