As part of this year’s concert series marking the end of the academic term, the North German School Music Students’ Orchestra (NSMO) will be performing for the first time at Halle1 in the Tabakquartier in Bremen.
As unwieldy as its name may be, its aim is simple: to bring together students from the five North German conservatoires (Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover, Rostock, Lübeck) in a single orchestra and to promote a vibrant musical life in Northern Germany in the long term. In partnership with the German Music Council, the NSMO has performed in recent years at venues including the Sendesaal Bremen and the Laeiszhalle, winning over audiences with its sensitive ensemble playing and immense enthusiasm.
This year, under the baton of Florian Herkenrath, the NSMO invites you to a varied concert featuring works by Gustav Mahler, Modest Mussorgsky and Joachim Raff. The young, up-and-coming baritone Sören Thiemann has been secured as the soloist for ‘Songs of a Wayfarer’.
Programme
- Modest Mussorgsky/Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: A Night on Bald Mountain
- Gustav Mahler: Songs of a Wayfarer, soloist: Sören Thiemann
- Joachim Raff: Symphony No. 3 in F major ‘In the Forest’, Op. 153
The concert in Bremen is supported by the Friends of the HfK Bremen.
