Dry lips – hand on hips Vernissage

“What do art graduates do in the face of constant rejections, limited resources, and an art world in which even art itself is increasingly consumed on the fly?” asks a collective of graduates and students from the HfK Bremen: Bissan Badran, Jashua Bustos Chumasero, Luise Hahn, Sihle Inensiko, Haruka Mogi and Michael Weis.

And they go on to ask: “How do we gain access to an art scene that often seems very selective and conservative? Where do we show our work when opportunities are limited, applications repeatedly end in rejections, and visibility often depends on already having access?”.
Instead of waiting for the next acceptance, they are now organizing a collaborative project of their own that goes far beyond an exhibition: “Dry lips - hand on hips.” On September 18, 2026, at 7 p.m., the opening reception begins at the Kunst- und Kulturverein Spedition, Beim Handelsmuseum 9, with an animated film by Michael Weis: “Shea und Tip.” This will be followed by an art auction. Of course, visitors will also be able to experience the works of the sextet of artists, who work in the fields of painting, animation, installation, textile art, sculpture, poetry, and drawing.

The exhibition runs through September 23, 2026, and the program continues with, among other things, a poetry reading and workshops in which visitors can participate spontaneously.
