HfK Jazzclub: Benny Grenz Trio

Musikkeller / Mensa13
Vergangene Veranstaltung

The Benny Grenz Trio plays songs that have accompanied them for a long time and have helped to shape and influence their style. These include well-known but also lesser-known jazz standards that the trio interprets in the style of musical greats such as Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown or Monty Alexander. The listener can expect pure joy of playing and dedication to the music at all times, presented in sophisticated arrangements by bandleader and pianist Benny Grenz. The repertoire is complemented by original compositions that illuminate the possibilities of the classical trio line-up in a poetic sound language. The focus is on musical interaction, with improvised and through-composed passages alternating and offering the three equal musicians plenty of room for development and spontaneity. It is their shared musical sensibility and passion for their music that makes this trio a unity.

The "hfk jazzclub" is the venue for contemporary jazz in Bremen. Concerts and sessions with musicians from the university and local and national musicians take place every Tuesday of the semester at 9 pm in the basement vault of the University of Music. Passionate jamming takes place here, or student tryout programmes are presented. Semester projects by the Rehearsal Band and themed concert programmes are also on offer. In short: a think tank for jazz and a meeting place for Bremen's jazz scene.
