Bob Degen, who hails from New York and studied with Madame Charloff at the same time as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Steve Kuhn and Keith Jarrett, comes from New York. Bob always had the hour after Keith at Berkley College. During his time in Boston, he had already played with 12-year-old Tony Williams, who, according to his own statement, was already a mature drummer at the time. After successfully completing his studies, Bob Degen went to Europe in 1965, where he soon played with Dexter Gordon, Art Farmer, Carmell Jones, Attila Zoller and Leo Wright. In 1967, he returned to Boston to form a trio with Bill Evans drummer Paul Motian and Mark Levinson and go on tour. At the age of 10, Bob had already played with Dave Brubeck drummer Joe Morello and heard him live one evening at the club with his father Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk.
Bob Degen is a piano legend and well worth experiencing. Perhaps he will reveal what he has to do with Keith Jarrett's Cologne concert and the founding of ECM over a drink at the bar this evening. Peter Perfido, an American living in France, is undoubtedly one of the great improvisers of jazz and has worked with pioneers such as Anthony Braxton, Ben Monder and Gary Peacock. Markus Schieferdecker is head of the jazz department in Bremen and professor of jazz double bass. Among other things, he curates the compact seminars and has been playing in Bob's trio for 15 years now. On Wednesday, Peter and Bob will hold an exclusive seminar for HFk students. Come one, come all.
