Bio

Andrea Grützner

Andrea Grützner is a Dresden and Berlin based artist working mainly in the field of photography and lens based media.
She is interested in how we perceive spaces, both contextually and visually. You could say that her work is an emotive anti-architectural photography, hovering between the familiar and unfamiliar; realism, illusion and abstraction. Her pictures sometimes appear as straight photographs, painting or collage and focus on our built environment. They simultaneously reference her personal perception of these spaces and their histories and also speak to a more general sense of the ways in which architecture affects behavior, emotions, and memory and, ultimately, a collective identity.
