The classes of Heike Kati Barath and Katrin von Maltzahn will conclude the 2026 summer semester with the joint exhibition ‘Last Minute’ .

In a public Plenum and accompanying artist talks, the artists will provide an insight into their working methods, present their current projects and engage in an open exchange with the audience.

The title ‘Last Minute’ refers to a present that is increasingly characterised by acceleration, uncertainty and the pressure to act. At a time when social, political and ecological challenges constantly demand new responses, the works on display emerge from a sense of particular urgency.

The artists respond to these conditions using a wide variety of means. Their works address personal, social and cultural issues and translate them into individual visual languages. This gives rise to positions that do not strive for unambiguity, but rather for forms of attention, inquiry and exchange.

‘Last Minute’ brings together works by a young generation of artists who not only observe their present but actively engage with it. The exhibition showcases artistic approaches that confront the challenges and contradictions of our time with vigour, curiosity, sensitivity and independence.
