This Thursday: Pinnowation
Pinnowation is a jazz quartet led by Bremen-based pianist and composer Moritz Pinnow. The focus is on his original, versatile compositions, which blend a tradition-conscious jazz language with modern timbres, driving grooves and lyrical depth. The result is a sound that bridges the gap between the club and the concert hall.
Pinnow’s pieces bring together complex harmonies and clear, singable melodies. The quartet uses these as an open canvas: for subtle dynamics, spontaneous reactions and collective improvisation.
He is joined by Frederik Palupski on drums, André Kluth on bass and Rostyslav Voitko on tenor saxophone. Together they develop a flexible interplay between quiet, almost chamber-music-like moments and powerfully grooving passages.
Live, Pinnowation thrives on the communication on stage. The music remains in motion, changes direction and draws the audience in – at times quiet and intimate, at times open and energetic.
