Open Space Domshof – OSD After Work: Tyoy String Quartet
For anyone looking to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink with live music and good company after work on Thursdays, OSD After Work is the perfect choice. Round off your day against the beautiful backdrop of the cathedral! The concerts on the Open Space stage – jazz, classical, singer-songwriters – take place at 5:30 pm.
This Thursday: Toyo String Quartet
A classical string quartet – yet quite different: the Toyo Quartet gives Japanese pop and anime music a fresh new sound. In a traditional quartet line-up, they perform well-known melodies from Ghibli films, anime series and Japanese pop – pieces that are also familiar in Germany.
Whether it’s “Totoro”, “Evangelion”, “Sailor Moon” or songs by Japanese bands: the focus is on music that has achieved cult status in Japan and has long been a favourite with many fans here too. Following the huge success of last year’s Open Space Domshof performance, the quartet is now expanding its programme to include further pieces from anime series and video games. The result is an evening blending classical music and pop culture, arranged with great attention to detail and surprisingly accessible.
Line-up:
- Chaeyoung Lee – violin
- Hae Min Hong – violin
- Tim Wai Lam – viola
- Raphael de Noronha – cello
