Return of the Gizmos

In the Digital Media project “Return of the Gizmos” project centres on the design and construction of poetic gadgets, speculative devices and disobedient objects. It begins with the question of how resonant relationships can be re-established in an increasingly digitalised and disembodied world. Rather than promoting superficial consumption, the project emphasises a conscious engagement with objects. From a design perspective, it examines the role of materiality, physical presence and spatial interaction in shaping perception. Whether a smartphone, a film or an AI system, every experience is connected to the body, a specific place and its surroundings. These relationships are explored to develop new forms of physical interfaces and tangible objects. The outcomes of the course will be presented in an exhibition.
