To Begin (again and again)

Based on different points of view, Rebekka Hausmann and Chandra Sperle will present projects from their design practice.

Rebekka Hausmann (born 1999, Hamburg) is a graphic and type designer based in Switzerland. She studied visual communication in Konstanz, Paris, and Zurich before specializing in type design at ECAL. Her work spans the various scales of typography—from editorial projects to typesetting to individual letters. She is interested in feminist issues and references to art history and contemporary photography.

Chandra Sperle (born 1994, Cologne) is a designer specializing in typeface design. After completing a bachelor's degree in Integrated Design at the Cologne International School of Design and a semester abroad at the Zurich University of the Arts, he specialized in type design during his master's studies at ECAL. There, he explored collaborative working methods, both theoretically in his final thesis “Dreaming the Collective. Towards a Collaborative Design Practice” and practically in his diploma project “Gradual,” which explored the concept of scale as a design principle in collaboration with artists and designers.
