Anton Bovensmann awarded 1st prize at the EUPLAYY Online Piano Competition

Anton Bovensmann competed with 27 other young pianists

Anton Bovensmann, young student of Almut Cordes' piano class at the Hochschule für Künste (HfK) Bremen, was awarded a first prize in the EUPLAYY Online Piano Competition.

Anton Bovensmann competed with 27 other young pianists in the competition's highest age category (up to 18 years) and achieved the third-best overall score.

EUPLAYY is an online piano competition for the youth of Europe. A total of about 200 young pianists applied for the competition, which is open throughout Europe. The three rounds of the competition were held between 25 May and 5 July 2020. Participants had to submit a live video recording of a baroque work, a classical sonata and a freely chosen program in the third round. The recording was evaluated by an international jury (Jury: Olga Scheps, Prof. Saule Tatubaeve, Prof. Gesa Lücker).

With the Young Students Programme, the HfK Bremen offers young people who are still in school education the opportunity of early top-level support and integration into the university business. The program is aimed at young instrumentalists, singers or composers who are aiming to study music at the university and who are looking for a highly qualified education in addition to their regular school attendance.

The HfK Bremen Young Students Programme includes individual lessons in the main subject, chamber music, special theory and aural training courses (which, if successfully attended, can be credited to a subsequent regular course of music studies) as well as a special concert series "Podium junger Talente” (Podium of Young Talents).
