Applications for scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year are now open. All documents and the link to the online application can be found at the bottom of this page.

Deutschlandstipendien are awarded as part of a funding programme of the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), on the basis of the Scholarship Programme Act (Stipendienprogramm-Gesetz, StipG) and the ‘Satzung der Hochschule für Künste Bremen zur Regelung der Vergabe von Deutschlandstipendien’ (HfK statutes on the award of Deutschlandstipendien). Half of each scholarship is funded by the federal government and half by private donors.

The main criteria are the applicants’ achievements and talent. In accordance with the statutes, the following may also be taken into account on a secondary basis: outstanding successes, extracurricular or non-academic commitment, and special personal or family circumstances.

The scholarship provides 300 euros a month and is granted as a non-repayable grant. All students enrolled at the University of the Arts Bremen who still have at least two semesters of their standard period of study ahead of them may apply, as may prospective students who are about to begin their studies at the HfK. Funding is initially granted for one year. Scholarship holders may reapply up to two semesters before the end of their standard period of study. The scholarship does not depend on income and can be combined with BAföG. Students who already receive other merit-based funding are not eligible (for exceptions, see § 4 StipG). There is no legal entitlement to the scholarship.

The University of the Arts Bremen would like to take this opportunity to thank the Karin und Uwe Hollweg-Stiftung, without whose commitment the Deutschlandstipendium at the HfK would not be possible.

Please note: Please log in to the online application with your HfK access data. If you have recently enrolled at the HfK and have not yet received your access data, or if you have any questions or problems with the online application, please contact us at deutschland-stipendium@hfk-bremen.de.

Please also note that you must sign the application form and then scan it. The scanned form will serve as the cover sheet for your attachments, which must be uploaded at the end of the online application.

The application deadline is 10 November 2026. Late applications cannot be considered.
