Dorsa Eidizadeh – It was bluer than I thought
Glassy Conference Room in Speicher XI: The Placenta, being immunologically foreign and non-self, must downregulate the body's immune system in order to survive. Thus, the stage is set for oppositions to take shape and struggles to begin. The battle persists, characterized by elements of deceit, toleration, and compromise. Should neither side claim victory, the struggle endures unabated.
Wiebke Mertens – Carried a watermelon
Galerie Herold: A man without a torso holding an uprooted cactus in his arms.
A swaying, caring gesture that harbours the potential for injury.
Tough Love
Presenting the plant, presenting oneself, admitting something, sharing something.
The fantasy of a handover: receiving a gift.
Supporting someone, making someone's life easier, taking someone's watermelon.
Wiebke Mertens is showing her figurative paintings in a solo exhibition at Galerie Herold to mark her graduation.
