Ole Prietz - Selfie
My work "Selfie" consists of two different works that are connected with each other and form an installation. One part consists of a large-format neon sign. On it I have depicted myself in the classic "selfie pose". The sign will be placed on the roof of the HfK ship "Dauerwelle" at the Brillbrücke and illuminated at night, making it highly visible. My work parodically deals with self-promotion on social media. The placement of a selfie image in urban space, in place of the internet, is central to this.
The second part of my work consists of a life-size sculpture, which is exhibited in the interior of the ship. Through certain design elements, the sculpture can be linked to the neon sign on the roof of the ship. It depicts a figure staring into space with a smartphone in its hand. It can be understood as an unadorned counterpart to the idealised self-portrayal on the roof of the ship, as a grimace behind the selfie.
Behshad Tajammol – Waves of Dripping Water
"It’s a dream one says, waking up in silence, and now? one wonders whether one has just dreamt a silence or whether the silence is the sound of the dream."
Waves of Dripping Water looks into the posibilities embedded in sound that may be addressed in contemporary struggles. What ethical and agentive stances or techniques may be adopted from the experiences we have of listening and being heard?
