HfK-Students attend renowned master class in France

Insights into interpretation and improvisation
Nick Divall, Thomas Dunford and Carmen Callejas

We are delighted to report on the successful participation of Carmen Callejas (soprano, Early Music Vocal Class – Bettina Pahn) and Nik Divall (lute, Lute Instruments Class – Prof. Joachim Held) in a prestigious international masterclass in France.

Both students were selected to take part in a three-day masterclass held by the renowned ensemble Les Arts Florissants, under the direction of William Christie. The event took place as part of the festival programme in Thiré, France, and provided in-depth insights into interpretation and improvisation within the context of historical performance practice.

The masterclass was led by Thomas Dunford, an internationally acclaimed lutenist and conductor. The programme focused on Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas, which was presented in concert following the rehearsal phase.

The University of the Arts Bremen warmly congratulates Carmen Callejas and Nik Divall on this exceptional opportunity and recognises their artistic dedication and achievement as an outstanding success.
