HfK – Virtual Spaces: The HfK in virtual space

Blurring the lines: AI photo shoot and guitar performance in hybrid virtual-physical space

Two performances on very different themes took place in mid-May at the HfK Bremen Gallery: a staged guitar performance accompanied by virtual projections, and an AI-driven photo shoot. Under the title Performing in HfK – Virtual Spaces, the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds began to blur.

In Virtual Poses, a project by student Aysen Kocakabak, artificial intelligence was used artistically for a virtual photo shoot, exploring how current technologies can be creatively applied. The second project, Myths, investigated new artistic-musical formats at the intersection of physical and virtual space. Students from the guitar class of Prof. Dr. Fabian Hinsche performed selected movements from Jan Philipp Meyer’s The Voyage of the Argonauts, inspired by the Greek myth of the Golden Fleece. Audiences were surrounded by virtual scenes created in advance using motion capturing. Myths was performed again at the Fête de la Musique on June 21st.

Both performances were selected and supported as part of a competition run by the HfK third-party funded project We Dig It! in connection with the newly developed platform HfK – Virtual Spaces.
