With Saeyeon Kim and Bomi Son, two HfK students have won over the juries of prestigious competitions with their illustrations and book concepts.
Saeyeon Kim's book “153 Good Reasons to Be 153cm” was shortlisted for the bi-annual Hamburg Picture Book Prize. According to the jury, Saeyeon Kim´s book explores the advantages of being of modest size in a “creative, humorous, and playful way.”
Acceptance and belonging are the central themes in Bomi Son´s children´s book, which she will be working on starting in September as part of the Narva children’s literature residency programme in Estonia: A story about a cat and a duck who recognice their differences and similarities and subsequently become friends. With her concept, she prevailed against more than 50 applicants and received a place in the renowned programme.
