Memorial to the victims of far-right violence
First LVM Art Prize goes to Prof. Natascha Sadr HaghighianNatascha Sadr Haghighian, Professor of Sculpture at the HfK, has been awarded the LVM Prize for Art in Public Spaces for her work “86° WALTER HALİT (2025)”; this is the first time the Landwirtschaftliche Versicherungsverein Münster (LVM) has organised the competition. The prize is worth 50,000 euros and, in addition to the prize money of 25,000 euros, includes an exhibition on the LVM campus as well as discussion events in Münster and at the location of the award-winning work.
With the installation on the roof of the Kassel Regional Council building, which is visible from afar, Haghighian has sent an artistically outstanding and, at the same time, powerfully socio-political message, according to the LVM. The work is intended as an unmistakable memorial against far-right violence. It commemorates two figures whose lives and violent deaths are inextricably linked to Kassel: the former District President Dr Walter Lübcke and Halit Yozgat.
