Mourning for Prof Jörg Kirschenmann

*24.2.1940 †18.2.2023

We are deeply saddened by the death of our esteemed long-time colleague

Prof. Jörg Kirschenmann
*24.2.1940 †18.2.2023

Jörg Kirschenmann played a major role in shaping the development of the Hochschule für Künste Bremen for decades. He was appointed lecturer for environmental analysis / urbanism at the HfK in 1975 (Hochschule für Gestaltung at the time) and became professor in 1979. With his commitment to spatial and urban planning, as well as architecture, he set overarching accents for the role of the arts in the development of a forward-looking, humane society, thereby providing important impulses for research and teaching at the university.

Even after his retirement in 2005, he remained deeply connected to the HfK as a member of the Freundeskreis.

With Jörg Kirschenmann, we are losing a colleague who has influenced many generations of students with his open and respectful manner. His humor and his contagious enthusiasm for the arts will remain in our memories. The Hochschule für Künste Bremen is deeply indebted to Jörg Kirschenmann for his long-lasting commitment. Our thoughts are with his family.
