New scholarship for students at the HfK
Korczak scholarship to promote equal opportunities at the Bremen University of the Arts (HfK)
This year, the Janusz Korczak Foundation Bremen (JKSB) has launched the Korczak scholarship to promote equal opportunities at the Bremen University of the Arts (HfK).
Now the scholarship has been awarded to eight students from various study programmes, handing them monthly grants of up to €800 during one of their final semesters, allowing them to focus on successfully completing their studies. Gertrud Janzer-Bertzbach, Inge Grothus and Martin Bertzbach from the Janusz Korczak Foundation awarded the scholarships to the students in a festive ceremony and talked to them about their goals, fields of study and their graduation projects.
The Korczak Scholarship 2025 was awarded to eight students:
Tammaa Abdulghaffar (Postgraduate programme in Fine Arts)
Xinyue Feng (KPA B.M. Elementary Music Education/Piano)
Kira Ronja Häring (M.A. Integrated Design)
Yan Xing Lee (KA B.M. Violin)
Nikolas Divall Archer Rejto (KA M.M. Basso Continuo)
Leon Sahiti (Postgraduate programme in Fine Arts)
Polet Silva Lorca (KA B.M. Viola)
Charlotte Uekermann (Diploma in Fine Arts)
Around 60 applications were received during the funding cycle and were carefully reviewed and selected by a committee consisting of two foundation members, the rector, the dean of the Art and Design Department, and the dean of the Music Department at the HfK. In addition to social aspects, the students' commitment to their studies and beyond was a decisive factor. The charitable Janusz Korczak Foundation Bremen (JKSB) aims to support teenagers and young adults in pursuing careers and educational paths that align with their aspirations and talents. The financial support thus strengthens both self-determination and equal opportunities.
The HfK congratulates the scholarship recipients and sincerely thanks the Janusz Korczak Foundation Bremen for its generous commitment.
The Korczak scholarships for HfK students are awarded annually. The next application period starts in April 2026.
