- (Block A) Basics of Drawing. Drawing as Process: Between Observation and Imagination Veranstaltungsbeschreibung This course introduces drawing as both an observational and exploratory practice. It focuses on developing sensitivity to form, material, and perception, while encouraging students to build their own relationship with drawing as a cognitive and sensory discipline. Through a combination of guided exercises, individual work, and group discussions, the course follows a sequence of thematic sessions, moving from observation and perception towards interpretation and individual development. The exact structure may shift depending on the development of the group and the working process: -Introduction: Drawing as process -Walking Thought: Translating movement into marks -Field Observation (Nature): Slowing perception -Drawing beyond the hand: Body and Spatial awareness -“Silent” and “Loud” drawing (Figure drawing as a case study) -Drawing Memory: reconstructing and reflecting -Collective drawing etudes -Interpreting a Realistic drawing -Material day: One-material focus -Reflection and Final work Zusätzliche Informationen (optional) The class is planned to take place indoors and outdoors. Recommended materials include paper in various formats (from A5 up to A0 or B1, or roll paper) and of different weights, suitable for drawing, graphic techniques, watercolor, and pastel work. It is useful to have basic materials such as charcoal, dry pastels, graphite, and a range of pencils. Students might also need a drawing board (cardboard or plywood), Additional tools include fixative, tape, brushes of different sizes, fine sandpaper, erasers of varying hardness, blending tools, ink, and containers for water.Materials for preparing or priming surfaces can also be used if relevant (optional).
