Johanna Seitz

Johanna Seitz specialized in historical harps after studying concert harp. She now has around 20 harps at her disposal, which she uses depending on the repertoire (from the Middle Ages to the Romantic period, with a focus on multi-row Baroque harps). She has a preference for chamber music projects with unusual instrumentation and experimental formats.

She performs with Dorothee Oberlinger & Il suonar Parlante (I), the Freiburg Baroque Consort & Orchestra, the Lautten Compagney, Concerto Köln, Collegium 1704 (CZ), Musica Temprana (NL), L'Arpeggiata (F), and many others, as well as with her own two ensembles, nuovo aspetto and 33zwo. She has made numerous radio and CD recordings, including two world premiere recordings of harp concertos by Georg Christoph Wagenseil and Johann Wilhem Hertel (Aeolus, accent) as well as Haydn's music in chamber music arrangements for harp (Haydn News, Prospero).
She gives courses, masterclasses, and advanced training courses in Germany and abroad, is the editor of a harp music series (Edition Walhall), initiator and organizer of HarpCologne, and artistic director of “Kultur am Wendepunkt. e.V.” In addition to early music and its research, she is involved in improvisation, folk, and new music, most recently with a world premiere by Gregor Hübner (NY) for baroque harp and concert harp together with jazz harpist Evelyn Huber.
