Stefan Koim is a guitarist and performer on historical plucked string instruments.
His international concert career as a soloist and chamber musician takes him to renowned festivals and concert halls. His artistic work focuses on early and contemporary music, the exploration of new repertoire, and the development of original concert formats. In this context, he collaborates with composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, George Benjamin and Moritz Eggert.
He studied in Cologne, Salzburg, Boston and Würzburg, completing his training with a masterclass diploma with distinction.
Recordings for musicaphon and Naxos have been nominated for awards including the OPUS KLASSIK and the German Record Critics’ Prize.
Stefan Koim heads the Plucked Instruments Department at the University of Osnabrück. He also founded the Osnabrück GuitarFest, where he serves as artistic director.
