MS "Dauerwelle": Nur kurzzeitig manövrierunfähig
Ausstellung- und Veranstaltungsschiff der HfK Bremen liegt wieder am angestammten AnlegerA press release from Jens Fischer

The MS “Dauerwelle”, the exhibition and event ship of the Bremen University of the Arts (HfK) since 2022, was moored at Tiefer 2 for events at the Jazzahead Festival. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, it was due to return to its traditional berth at the Bürgermeister-Smidt-Brücke. A skipper and a machinist were on board at 19:30. The first engine test was carried out in accordance with the regulations without any anomalies. During the casting off maneuver, the engines failed during the necessary restart to change direction. The ship was briefly unable to maneuver, drifted downstream, touched another ship and struck a pillar of the Wilhelm Kaisen Bridge.
Thanks to the rapid assistance of the “Hal över” passenger ship “Oceana”, the water police, fire department and DLRG, further collisions were prevented. The “Dauerwelle” was stabilized in the current and moored at the pier “Am Deich 1” at 20:15. The Waterways and Shipping Authority was then able to lift the closure of the Weser again.
An initial inspection by the water police did not reveal any obvious defects on the MS “Dauerwelle”, so that she was able to sail to her berth at the Bürgermeister-Smidt-Brücke with full engine power and without any further problems. All events scheduled there will take place as planned.
