In jazz, bassists have emancipated themselves from the traditional role of background accompaniment. Although they continue to provide rhythmic groundwork and give their colleagues plenty of room to develop, they also show how the bass can be used as an equal solo instrument in both low and high registers. This can be experienced over the next few weeks at the Hochschule für Künste (HfK) Bremen. Bassists can be met, give concerts and provide information about studying bass at the HfK.

Bassist Richie Goods, who has already played for Alicia Keys, Common, Sting, Vincent Hering and many others, will kick things off. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 9 pm, he will give a concert at the HfK Jazzclub, Dechanatstraße 13-15, with his trio: Chien Chien Lu (vibraphone), Russell Gelman (guitar) and Jerome Jennings (drums).
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, a workshop with Richie Goods and his band will take place at the HfK - for students and interested bassists who would like to find out more about studying bass at the HfK Bremen. Registration: kbb@hfk-bremen.de
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, HfK jazz bass students Magnus Bodzin and Felipe Pedraza, who are completing their bachelor's degrees this year, will be performing with their bands on an open-air stage at the Jazzahead Festival in front of Hall 7 under the label "A bridge from Bremen to Groningen and the Netherlands": 3 to 7 pm.
As part of the "jazzahead! CLUBNIGHT" will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024.

As part of the "jazzahead! CLUBNIGHT", three bass-related concerts will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the HfK Jazzclub, Dechanatstraße 13-15.
