Fortepiano

The fortepiano programme focuses on the repertoire of the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. Stylistic and technical aspects, such as improvising embellishments, pedalling, and a nuanced touch technique, sometimes in conjunction with clavichord playing depending on the style, are integral to repertoire study. Working with the varied chamber music repertoire, including solo concertos, forms a significant part of the programme. Aspects of figured bass playing, such as recitative practice, as well as the phenomenon of improvisation, complement the curriculum. Participation in various chamber music ensembles and ensemble projects allows students to gain practical experience in different repertoire areas. The Master's project can be designed individually as a coherent concert programme without any further content requirements.
