Applying for the study programme Integrated Design (B.A.)

© Hochschule für Künste Bremen – Anja Segermann

The study programme Integrated Design (ID) is unique in Germany in its consistent and comprehensive focus. The bachelor's programme does not differentiate between the traditional disciplines of design, but rather focuses on overarching, conceptual creativity. In this way, ID is reacting to the changes in the design profession: In addition to the traditional “industrial design”, the post-industrial society has created a variety of new fields of activity that require different profiles.

The first part of the exam consists of a homework assignment to be completed independently on a given topic as well as a supplementary selection of five further papers (for example, one paper also corresponds to a sketchbook or a small series) of your choice.

The works and documents are uploaded to a web interface. You will receive further information promptly by email.

Based on the results of the homework submitted, the subsequent second part of the entrance examination will take place on June 18th, 2024. This consists of an assigned topic and a discussion with the examination committee. Applicants can also bring a further five works/designs of their own choosing. The entrance examination takes place in person at the University of the Arts Bremen.

If you have passed the entrance exam, you will receive notification of this by email and will take part in the allocation process for available study places.
