A nationwide day of action by the 24 state music colleges.
On November 27th, 2025, we will send a clear message against discrimination and abuse of power. Each college will organize this day individually, but the goal is the same: to make music colleges places of respectful interaction and mutual trust.
After the Rectors' Conference of Music Universities unanimously adopted a position paper on dealing with abuse of power at German music universities in May 2024 and developed recommendations for action, all 24 universities are now taking an important step towards implementation and sending a clear signal against discrimination and abuse of power with a nationwide day of action.
Under the common motto “KUNST. MACHT. MENSCHLICHKEIT. (ART. POWER. HUMANITY),” there will be events, activities, and spaces for reflection at all 24 state music colleges – individually designed and supported by a shared attitude.

Keynote speech: Abuse of power in music
SAME BUT DIFFERENT Diversity Management & Consulting GmbH, Berlin
Abuse of power in the music industry has been increasingly discussed in the media in recent years. More and more players of all kinds—whether universities, event organizers, festivals, or artists themselves—are critically examining the issue and attempting to develop preventive measures on the one hand and solutions for specific problem situations on the other. This negotiation process is gaining in importance and influencing how people interact with each other. In this keynote speech, we want to clarify basic terms and find out what abuse of power is, how it manifests itself in the music industry in particular, and discuss concrete solutions for dealing with it.
