Screen printing, posters and the craft of design

Thomas Kühnen shares inspiring anecdotes from his everyday workshop life with you: he talks about the possibilities and challenges of using technology for applied and artistic projects, thematic influences through collaborations and project partners, and how technology can become a creative tool when you print your own posters. Thomas brings lots of original printed materials from students and his own work and reveals a few tricks of the trade in a relaxed conversation.

Thomas Kühnen is an award-winning screen printer, experienced communication designer and multiple international award-winning poster designer. He has been head of the screen printing workshop at the Department of Design at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen since 2013. In addition to his teaching activities in screen printing and print design, he is dedicated to the design of cultural posters in the artistic disciplines of the Folkwang University: music, theater, dance, design and science.
