Bremens Freimaurer donate to HfK social fund

Generous donation instead of the “Kunstförderpreis” Bremens Freimaurer donate to HfK social fund

It is a tradition: Every year, and this has been the case for over three decades, the "Silberner Schlüssel" foundation, in cooperation with the Freimaurerloge "Zum Silbernen Schlüssel", awards an art sponsorship prize of 4,000 euros to students of the Bremen University of the Arts (HfK). This year, the art sponsorship prize would have been awarded for the 31st time. Due to the worldwide pandemic, the awarding of the prize and the associated exhibition was not possible and therefore the foundation is taking a new path this year. Bremens Freimaurer have decided to donate a support contribution of 8,000 euros to the HfK social fund, which provides financial aid for students in need.

"For numerous students of the Bremen University of the Arts, side jobs as an important source of income to finance their studies were lost during the Corona pandemic. They can therefore quickly run into financial distress. We are therefore suspending the award ceremony for the first time this year and would like to make our contribution to the common good of the student body," says Paul Thomas Koßmann, Chairman of the Foundation.
"The contribution of the Silberner Schlüssel Foundation is an important sign that gives students courage in the current situation and offers concrete help," says Roland Lambrette, Rector of the HfK Bremen, thanking the Foundation.

Next year, 2021, a prizewinner is selected again. The associated award ceremony and public exhibition will take place in the Freimaurerloge “Zum Silbernen Schlüssel”. Both this year's and next year's diploma students* will be considered.
