The website www.bremen.de is a useful first web address for finding your way around the Hanseatic city. In addition to information on life, culture, tourism, education and science, job, internship and housing offers and various second-hand items are posted on the ‘Shwarzes Brett’. It is also possible to post advertisements.

There is a lively interplay of supply and demand online on the city of Bremen's notice board, where shared flats or flats, rooms, flats and offices can be found.

Many offers and useful information on Bremen can be found in the daily newspaper "Weser Kurier", on its website and on radiobremen.

Other housing agencies on the Internet are Immowelt, Immoscout, Immonet, Wohnungsbörse, Kleinanzeigen, WG-gesucht and many more.

The Studierendenwerk also offers more than 2,000 places in modern student residences in Bremen at all-inclusive prices. More information here.

If you would like to pay for your accommodation with social work instead of money, you can find offers at "Wohnen für Hilfe". The prerequisite is an interest in living with other people and support with various everyday household tasks. More information can be found here.

Self-organised housing cooperatives provide their members with affordable housing, some offer special offers for students – for example Gewoba, Anders wohnen e. G., Gewosie and WGS Bremen Wohnungsgenossenschaft e. G.

Students are entitled to housing benefit under certain circumstances. The Studierendenwerk has summarised exactly what these are here.

Anyone wishing to move into a publicly subsidised rental flat requires a housing entitlement certificate. The responsible office is the Housing Department of the Senator for Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing. You can find more information here.

There is still no official rent index in Bremen, so for the time being we have to make do with the figures from the property portal wohnungsboerse.de, which are updated from time to time – they are listed here.

Bremen is highly contradictory when viewed in detail. There are very lively and almost dead quiet, very expensive and quite cheap neighbourhoods. All of them have their own character.

The Überseestadt, Walle and Findorff are located in and around the HfK location Am Speicher XI, Faculty of Art and Design. The HfK location Dechanatstraße, Faculty of Music, is located directly in the city centre, just one street crossing further on is the beginning of the Viertel that is particularly popular with students, from where the equally popular Neustadt on the other side of the Weser is also within easy reach.

Mobility is responsible for a large proportion of global CO₂ emissions, which is why urban transport options are changing in order to protect the climate. Even in Bremen, private motorised transport still dominates everyday life in public spaces. As a city of short distances, these are best done on foot.
