A slow-paced introduction to moving images:
In daily short exercises, we create and examine images and sound. We break down seconds,
swap tracks—and take a very close look to get started—layer by layer, frame by frame: Why do I
like what I see? What do image sequences and audio express separately or together, and how can
I influence this technically? To this end, we develop a common language and methods. Framing,
shot sizes, image detail, camera movements, recording techniques, editing, and montage all find
their way into our toolbox of experience.
Using smartphones and audio recorders, we create our own material, take a look at the HfK studio,
and get to know the film workshop. The goal is to gradually understand the medium of film through
observation, analysis, and experimentation. Please bring a visually appealing object with you—it
will be the protagonist in your daily exercises.
