Equality and the Advancement of Women
The University of the Arts Bremen pursues the goal of achieving gender equality in all areas of the university.
In implementing the statutory mandate for the advancement of women and gender equality, the University management, departments, committees, and interest groups are advised and supported by the Central Women's Representative, the Central Commission for Women's Issues (ZKFF), the Women's and Equal Opportunities Representative for Administration and Technology, and the Office for Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality.

Central Women's Representative for Studies, Teaching, and Research pursuant to the Bremen Higher Education Act (BremHG)
The Central Women's Representative advises and supports the University in implementing its statutory mandate for the advancement of women and gender equality pursuant to the Bremen Higher Education Act (BremHG). She is the elected spokesperson for the Central Commission for Women's Issues (ZKFF) of the Academic Senate.
She participates in numerous committees of academic self-government and University management to counteract the diverse – often hidden – disadvantages faced by women in studies, teaching, and research. One focus is participation in appointment procedures.
The Central Women's Representative supports students, teachers, and artistic and academic staff and provides them with personal advice on questions relating to professional and individual development, academic qualifications, gender-related disadvantages, harassment and discrimination, or the compatibility of studies, career, and private life.
The advice is confidential and subject to professional secrecy.

Central Commission for Women's Issues (ZKFF)
The Central Commission for Women's Issues (ZKFF) supports the University in all measures to reduce disadvantages and structural discrimination for women in academia and to reduce underrepresentation. It makes suggestions and submits its opinions to all relevant departments within the University. It has the right to be informed at any time about all matters relating to the advancement of women.
The ZKFF is a permanent commission of the Academic Senate. The status groups represented in the commission are professors, students, artistic and academic staff, and lecturers. The Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer for the administrative and technical areas is an ex officio member of the ZKFF.
The elected spokesperson for the ZKFF is the Central Women's Officer in accordance with the BremHG.
The ZKFF's office is the Office for Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality.

Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer for the Administrative and Technical Areas pursuant to the State Equal Opportunities Act (LGG)
The Women's Officer pursuant to the State Equal Opportunities Act (LGG) represents the interests of all women in administrative and technical positions at the University of the Arts Bremen.
Within the scope of this role, she is required by the Equal Opportunities Act and the Women's Advancement Plan to participate in both planning and decision-making by department management, particularly regarding personnel, social, and organisational measures, and in the implementation of personnel development, in order to ensure equal opportunities in the administrative and technical areas.
Consultations are confidential and subject to official discretion.

The Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Office advises and supports the University management and the women's representatives in accordance with the BremHG and LGG in fulfilling their legal obligations and responsibilities, including in the areas of women's advancement, equal opportunities, and anti-discrimination.
