Change of University or Study Programme

Transfer students are students who were or are already enrolled at another university in the same or a related degree programme or who are placed in a higher semester than the first semester due to creditable study or examination achievements or periods of study in another degree programme.

Programme changers are students who are already enrolled at the University of the Arts and wish to change their degree programme within the university.

Applications are only possible for study programs where there are available places.

University transfer students and advanced students from the 2nd semester (higher semesters) can apply via the application portal. The application period for the winter semester begins on May, 1st and ends on May, 31st. The application period for the summer semester begins on December, 1st and ends on January, 15th.

Admission is based on submitted artistic or design work, a personal interview with the entrance examination committee and the recognition of previous study or examination achievements.

University transfer students and advanced students from the 2nd semester (higher semesters) can can apply via the application portal . The application period for the entrance examination for the winter semester begins on March, 1st and ends on March, 31st. The application period for the entrance examination for the summer semester begins on December, 1st and ends on January, 15th.

Admission is granted on the basis of a successful artistic entrance examination. Partial examinations in the compulsory subject of music theory/aural training and in the minor subject of piano are not required.

Applicants for the artistic-pedagogical degree programmes (KPA) with a major in instrumental/vocal pedagogy (IGP), elementary music pedagogy (EMP), jazz or music theory must take an artistic-pedagogical examination in addition to their instrumental/vocal major.

A processing fee of 50 euros is charged for participation in the admission procedure in the Department of Music.
