Application Fine Arts
INFORMATION ABOUT THE APPLICATION IN THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME FINE ARTS
The application procedure for the diploma programme Fine Arts at the HfK is online. The HfK provides all applicants with its online application portal ARTIST (https://application.hfk-bremen.de). Via your applicant account at ARTIST the HfK keeps in touch with you by e-mail during the application procedure and informs you about appointments, procedures, necessary documents and tasks.
Via our online application portal (https://application.hfk-bremen.de) you can submit your online application for admission to the entrance examination and to the diploma programme Fine Arts until 17 April 2023.
The digital portfolio should consist of artistic works (drawings, objects, photographs, films, animations, sound, etc.) that provide an insight into your previous working methods and perception of art. Your desired focus of study should also be reflected in the selection and weighting of your work samples.
The recommendations for this are:
1) Your submitted works can be documented with photographs:
if possible, a PDF-portfolio with about 20 digital images of your self-made artistic works. The recommended size of the PDF is approximately 50 MB.
Digital images in JPG format, if they cannot be combined into a PDF, should not exceed 5 MB each.
For example, you can scan your work or take photos with your smartphone or camera and upload them in JPG format.
For objects, for example, you can try to take photos of your object from different perspectives and add notes about the materials used.
Sketchbooks can also be submitted digitally in excerpts and count as one work.
Please title your files with your name and the title of the work and include a list of your submitted works.
2) For all other forms of media work samples (such as video / animations / programming / sound works):
If the length of all submitted time-based, media-based works is longer than 15 minutes, we recommend that you additionally compile a marked compilation with concise excerpts, which does not exceed a total length of 5 minutes. Please submit video, film and animations compressed as MP4, H264.
Please upload your moving image work to the known playback platforms, sharing sites or a server and send us only the link to the work.
Don't forget to include the password if the work is protected by a password.
The uploaded work may not be modified after the closing date for applications. This means that the last date on which a file was modified or uploaded on the respective site or server must be before the submission deadline. If this is not the case, the work will not be considered in the application.
Please note that there is a maximum of 200 MB of storage space available per applicant.
We are aware that photos or scans do not exactly reproduce the original.
This circumstance will be taken into account by the examiners.
You do not have to pay any additional costs to have your portfolio professionally digitised!
On the basis of the uploaded digital works, the next in the second step, the decision on admission to the entrance examination was made.
The entrance examination for the diploma programme Fine Arts lasts two days and is taken online. The examination committee will conduct a personal interview with you to supplement and deepen the insight gained through the artistic works submitted.
If you have passed the entrance examination, you will receive a notification of this by e-mail and take part in the allocation procedure for available study places. If you receive a rejection notice, it remains to be seen whether the Hochschule für Künste can allocate a place for you in the succession procedure.
Please be patient, we guarantee that no study place will remain free.
