Library Music
Sheet music of many styles, music to listen to and borrow, books, specialist magazines and music DVDs – visitors will find all this and much more in the Music Library. The music sub-library is located in Dechanatstraße, the home of the Faculty of Music at the University of the Arts Bremen. In the light-flooded glass veranda, visitors can browse through current specialist journals, while individual workstations invite you to study and work.
The holdings of the music sub-library include about 17,000 editions of sheet music, around 6,000 books, various journals, about 1,000 CDs, hundreds of records and various specialist magazines. The collection consists of a broad spectrum between medieval music and current contemporary modern music. Thanks to the integration of the Akademie für Alte Musik Bremen, the library has a special focus on early music, juxtaposed with new music with the Atelier Neue Musik. Of course, the classical-romantic repertoire is also available.
The Music Faculty Library is a scientific library open to the public. It provides employees and students of HfK as well as people interested in music with specialist literature. The library premises are barrier-free. A workstation with a hi-fi system allows direct listening to sound recordings on site, and the library holds a large collection of records and CDs. Prospective students can use the library's own computers to prepare for the entrance examination and train their hearing with two different ear training programmes. A music notation programme offers the possibility to professionally notate music. The Music Faculty Library is part of the Bremen State and University Library.
