The Wüstenrot Foundation, in collaboration with the Museum Folkwang, has awarded the Documentary Photography Awards, worth €10,000, and is exhibiting the winning works at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart until June 7, 2026. Among the four winners is HfK alumna Hannah Wolf.

Her two-chan nel video projection “Die Dialektik dieser Arbeit” (The Dialectic of this Work) deals with the arms industry in Germany. The focus is on the architecture of anonymous functional buildings that seem to blend almost perfectly into cities and suburbs.

Jury member René Hartmann emphasizes that Hannah Wolf examines the dialectical nature of violence: “She notes that violence/ war leads to destruction, but in some cases also to freedom. War is waged with weapons manufactured in factories around the world. Some of these are located in Bremen, Germany, housed in ordinary, almost boring places. That is one of the main points of her project: the ordinary nature of the extraordinary.”
