Hochschultage 2023: Competition communication concept

The Hochschultage team is launching a competition

On Saturday, July 8, 2023, and Sunday, July 9, 2023, the next Hochschultage of the HfK Bremen will take place.

The Hochschultage team is launching a competition again this year with the aim of having students develop a concept for posters, trailers and other media for the Hochschultage. An expert jury will select a winning concept from all participants.

For the second time, the Hochschultage will take place in the summer. This year, in addition to Speicher XI, our new building, the 2,000 m² and almost 100 meter long Speicher XI A, will also be used. We would like to see a creative approach to these circumstances. In addition, a main message is to be developed that encompasses the Hochschultage in its diversity and reflects the different areas of the HfK, Fine Arts, Integrated Design, Digital Media and Music.

For this purpose, send us a short description of your concept (max. 1 DIN A4 page), a poster (format DIN A3; series possible) and your portfolio (max. 10 pages, max. 20 MB) to hochschultage@hfk-bremen.de by February 10, 2023, 12 p.m..

If you have any questions, just contact us at hochschultage@hfk-bremen.de.

Have fun and good luck!

Your Hochschultage Team

Completion and implementation

After the winners have been selected, the implementation phase begins. The concept is further elaborated, the first print products are designed and put into print. Further communication media are developed and implemented together. The winners work closely with the Hochschultage team. Help from other students with the development and design is welcome.

For the realization of all media the winners will receive a fee of 3.000€ (in case of groups this sum has to be divided accordingly). Remuneration can be in the form of a student assistant contract, an expense allowance or an invoice.

Further information on the procedure

What else do you need to know and what are the requirements for a successful application?

  • Every student of the HfK Bremen can participate, individually or as a group.
  • The jury members consist of professors with expertise in the field and one representative each from the Freundeskreis of the HfK, the AStA, Referat 1 (Press & Public Relations and Event Management), the Department of Art and Design, the Department of Music and the Rectorate.
  • No third-party materials that infringe copyrights or intellectual property rights may be used for the development of the communication concept.
  • The designs must comply with the corporate design of the HfK Bremen (use of the two-part HfK logo according to the manual. See: https://www.hfk-bremen.de/t/marketing-und-öffentlichkeitsarbeit/n/logo).
  • The typeface (type and size) must be easily legible at a distance (large-format posters).
  • The call for entries offers the greatest possible freedom in terms of design in the creation of the communication concept.
  • There is no predefined main message for the communication concept. You are free to develop your own slogan.

After the competition, the winners go straight on to the next stage:

  • Important: During the entire creative process, you will be supported by the central event management and the project managers of the Hochschultage 2023.
  • There will be several project phases in the design. Please keep this in mind when planning, as it may become more stressful at some times (see schedule above).
  • If you need further help, for example in creating videos, sound or graphics, we can look together for support from other students.
  • It is up to you if you want to choose a professor to supervise the further development of your concept.
